Summary:
Great car, and when the vtec kicks in, you feel the engine goooooo
Faults:
Nothing at all; hydraulic clutch has air in the lines, just needed to bleed, it runs great.
General Comments:
Bought the car from its 1st owner. The car was in excellent condition. The leather seats in the 2001 model year are like Mercedes heavy duty leather, not the cheap leather that crinkles up like the previous years.
GSR vtec power is great. I really didn’t think it would go as fast as it does for a 4 cylinder.
The car runs like a beauty. Runs Castrol Syntec synthetic oil. Otherwise the car runs great.
Only put 5000 km on it, but looking to do much much more.
I did the reviews myself online; consumers guide, car survey, and other online sources reviews were great, so I decided to go with it. Great buy, very pleased.
I get 31mpg city and about 38mpg hwy, due to custom air intake and headers.
The one thing I am worried about is oil consumption; it takes 5 litres to change and I have put it an extra litre of oil already.. some people say it’s due to the use of vtec.. I’m not sure, but a litre extra is kind of worrying.. hopefully it’s not valve seals or piston rings… Checked for smoke out of the muffler and it does blow smoke, but not blue or black, just greyish, so I dunno, gonna get it checked out… but ya, otherwise, a great car.
