Summary:
Great car!... just don’t move it!
Faults:
Air intake sensor
Ignition
Electricity
Windows
Rear window wiper and water pump
Front wipers
Driver seat not really in the fixed position
Mirrors so small they cannot be used
Consumption came to 15 l/100 km in mixed regime
handbrake
Rear fog light never worked
Dashboard lights
Fuel indicator failed
Extremely poor low beam lights
General Comments:
I liked Alfas and the spirit of sport they bring. Liked their sound too and flair.
The 145 is roomy enough for me, single, yet small enough to park and drive around the town. Also, car has the spirit when driven 4500 rpm and more.
Road handling is great on curvy roads. but… in 5000 kilometers it died on the road 3 times. No obvious reason as I tried to take a good care of it, change proper oil, etc. I’m not wild driver anyway and don’t push the car over the limits, but it’s real agony if you want to drive 50 kilometers, and fear for each and every of them what’s going to go wrong!
The car is not comfortable. Seats are… weird. Combined with the firm suspension and you have every trip more than 100 km - a pain.
Anyway, I have listed some of things above and reliability is actually crucial. Not to bother too much (as this car does not deserve it) - the Alfa 145 is a great car as long as you don’t have to drive it. My 20 year old Citroen was much more reliable. Thanks to it - no italian car will ever come into my possession, even if it’s called Ferrari!
