Faults:
1) Bad tyre valve from new.
2) Faulty ignition coil at circa 17k miles.
General Comments:
My previous car was a 106XR 1.4 (1994). The Saxo is more solid, rolls less on corners and is generally v. civilised. There are the typical French rattles from various parts of the cockpit! It is extremely economical - typically better than 6l/100km (50mpg); the performance is not that far off the VTR, which I test drove, and much better than the 1.1 models I’ve had as courtesy cars.
