Pros: Great new engines, high safety.
Cons: The design and feels dated, poor steering.
The Xsara has a good equipment, selling on price, the safety and fits all standards. No complaints at the handling or performance – both are adequate for the class. Comfortable interior, too. The Xsara’s sales are mostly down thanks to the Citroën’s splendid cashback offers.
Its 2.0 HDi diesel engine is simply great. Economical, powerful and reliable. Though, the 1.6 engine is the best compromise (from the power and price point of view). The ride is okay on the smooth roads, but no good when the roads are bumpy. The steering is an advantage – it’s light, which makes the parking easier.
