Daihatsu Motor was established in 1907. Nowadays, it has 4 Japanese factories and specializes on small, cheap-to-run and maintain passenger cars for the reasonable prices. The Daihatsu cars include electric models, as well. They are sold worldwide under the names of Boon, redesigned Myvi, Sirion, Cuore and Terios (it is a tiny SUV). The company realizes almost a million Daihatsu cars a year (two thirds – in Japan) and nearly half million Toyotas, based on the Daihatsu models. Toyota owns the controlling 51% stake of the company. Daihatsu also manages to export its cars to more than 140 countries.
