The story of Rover started in 1861, when James Starley and Josey Turner had organized the sewing machines manufacturing company in Coventry. Eight years later, they switched to producing the bicycles. And only in 1888, Starley had built his first car, which contained an electric engine – though, it didn’t go to masses. Overall business was good, and in 1896 Starley has renamed the company to Rover. Unfortunately, in 1901 he died before the Rover cars’ series production had started. At the moment, Rover is under BMW control, which brought the new model row. Rover produces the SUVs and the passenger cars.
